Dear Family & Friends,

Happy New Year! We trust everyone had a Merry Christmas! As we start 2018, it's always good to reflect on the past year and expect in the new year. As a family, we have so much to be grateful for.  Once again, we can look back and see God's miraculous provision, protection- His faithfulness-through every trial and every victory.  It was a year of transition as Renee got resettled here in Jamaica.  So thrilled to have her home!

As we reflect, a quick update on the rest of the family: Hopeton and Nardia both continue to work with us at Montego Bay Christian Academy.  They recently were approved through a govt. housing agency to purchase a house! They have the final interview this month! Pray that all goes well. It is a small, one bedroom-- but eventually we can add on to it.  Mandela has recently been promoted on his job at Sandals South coast to Entertainment Supervisor. He works long hours, but enjoys it.  Ricardo is working and living in Dallas. He's quite the salesman! After 8 years in the Navy, Alex, just completed EMT training in San Diego. He passed the course, but will need to complete a certification process.  Naidia graduated a couple of weeks ago from Texas A&M Commerce with a degree in Criminal Justice. After sharing an apartment with her little bro Kalen, she has moved closer to her current job. We are so proud of her! Praying now for an open door for a job pertaining to her studies. Jourdan came home to Jamaica to help her folks! She is a jack of all trades-and a huge blessing to us and MBCA. After this school year, we will see what God opens up next. Kalen has one more semester left at Commerce. This season he interned as a coach and saw the Lions become NCAA D2 National Champions! It was amazing!  We are so proud of all of our incredible kids!

We are so thankful for you who have been so faithful to pray and give. We do not take you for granted.  In the busyness of life, we inevitably fail to always express our appreciation. Know we are most grateful!

We are expectant of a great 2018! The school continues to be a beacon of light and hope! Though much is kept out of the media, we've seen so much blood shed in our city.  I believe there is not one person that has not in some way been affected by the violence.  Even yesterday, one of our teacher's aide's brother was shot and killed. No apparent motive.  So many people now live in fear. We know though that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind! In an unique way, MBCA is able to emanate hope, love and peace to our students and families- which impacts the entire community.

Where ever one may live in the world today, it is easy to succumb to the darkness that seems to be permeating the globe. It causes one to shrink back and get weary.  I love  Colossians 1:11-12 from The Message. It says, "We pray that you'll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul-- not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives.  It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us."

We pray for you often! Thank you again for all your help. Please note the new address for support.

Our sincere thanks & love,

Jerry & Renee
